Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning seven, had traveled around all over the world and had a taste of diverse cultures when he was a kid. She was educated in an boarding school in London between 7 and 9. Then, the family was relocated away from London and moved to Toronto, Canada. Contractor achieved academic success in Toronto in addition to her training as the ballerina. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school where she did not only dance but also studied theater. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the show Pericles at the prestigious and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. The play received rave reviews and her performances on the stage in 92 productions. the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian critics in 2002. She accepted the invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash training in classical theater. Her place in the upcoming stage season was securing and she was offered the part as Hermia.
